About the Role
Install, maintain and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings across the Cayman Islands, including businesses, resorts and offices. Help deliver safe, code-compliant installations, meet project deadlines and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities

Install commercial power, lighting, fire alarm, generator and low-voltage systems.

Read drawings and prepare sketches to plan wiring and equipment layouts.

Install conduit, wiring, panels, switches and outlets, including grounding, bonding and overcurrent protection.

Troubleshoot faults, complete repairs and perform routine maintenance and testing.

Ensure work meets safety, quality, local code and applicable NEC requirements.

Coordinate with project teams and clients, and guide coworkers in safe working practices.

Complete daily digital time and material records, update as-built drawings and track supplies.

Assist with system commissioning and client handover training.

Apply energy-efficient practices to lighting and power installations.
Qualifications and Experience

Education: Minimum is high school diploma but preferred associate 2 year degree or trade school in electrical technology or related field.

Experience: At least 6+ years of hands-on experience in commercial electrical installations and maintenance.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid journeyman electrician license or equivalent; valid driver's license required for Cayman Islands.

Other Requirements: Clean police records and valid work permit for the Cayman Islands (if applicable).

Testing Requirements: Candidates may be assessed using Cognitive Ability Tests, Numerical Reasoning Tests, Technical Aptitude Tests, and Personality Tests.
Key Skills

Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic testing skills.

Knowledge of electrical codes, blueprints and schematics.

Skilled in conduit bending, wire pulling, panel terminations and safe tool use.

Familiarity with commercial lighting, LED systems and controls.

Advanced computer literacy, including digital worksheets and reporting.

Working Conditions

Commercial construction, renovation and maintenance work across the Cayman Islands.

Indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, noise, dust and electrical hazards requiring PPE.

Work in confined spaces, trenches and at heights exceeding 25 feet using ladders, scaffolds or lifts.

Extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, plus on-call emergency availability.

Daily travel between job sites using company vehicles.

Fast-paced teamwork, with occasional office-based planning and documentation.
Physical Requirements
- Repeatedly lift and carry tools, materials and equipment up to 100 lb, approximately 45 kg.
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel and crouch for prolonged periods.
- Work overhead, in awkward positions and in confined spaces.
- Perform physically demanding wire pulling and repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Distinguish wire colours and read diagrams and labels.
- Maintain balance at heights and on uneven surfaces.
- Wear appropriate PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves and harnesses.
